I know that deciding who to trust with an ADHD assessment and support is an important decision. I'm very proud of ADHD North East. Here's why I'm confident that we are the right service for you.
Above all else, I understand ADHD.
With my initials being ADH, I have always been close to ADHD. I always disliked school. I was capable, but I found it hard to concentrate. This got me into trouble; I completed my lessons in the corridors away from distractions in the classroom. I was told I should do more, be better, and try harder. A school report said that I was "there in body but not spirit". At university I missed deadlines, and even finished my Doctorate a year later than my peers because of this. I was determined from then on to helping others who struggled in similar ways.
I now have well over 10 years experience of working with people with ADHD, including in NHS services. I've completed many hundreds of assessments and offered more sessions supporting people than I can keep track of. I am proud to be an expert in the area and to see how understanding and support changes lives and helps people reach their potential.
My belief, and the ethos of ADHD North East is that the assessment process does not have to feel stressful, or be full of jargon. I will always be honest, respectful, clear, and thorough.
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and keeping up with my two wonderful young children, who remind me every day of the importance of understanding and patience.
