Quality driven assessments

The importance of getting it right.

At ADHD North East, we understand that an ADHD diagnosis is a significant step in a child’s life. That’s why it’s crucial to get the diagnosis right from the beginning. We know that incorrectly diagnosing ADHD can lead to a path of support that may not be suitable for your child, potentially causing more harm than good.

Our commitment is to provide thorough, unbiased, and professional assessments. We don’t just rely on quick observations or assumptions—we invest in using high-quality, validated tools such as the Conners 4 and QbChecks to ensure a comprehensive understanding of your child’s behaviour, strengths, and challenges. These tools help us accurately distinguish ADHD from other potential issues and ensure that we’re making the right diagnosis.

The Conners 4 allows us to gather detailed insights from multiple perspectives—parents, teachers, and the child themselves—so that we can understand how behaviours manifest across different environments. The QbCheck combines attention and activity measurements to provide an objective view, adding another layer of accuracy to our assessments. And whilst other providers don't use these, or sometimes include them only as expensive add-ons, we include them as part of every assessment.

The assessment Process

Every step of your journey explained...

1. Initial contact

When seeking an ADHD assessment, you may self-refer to us or be referred by a professional. Either way, this starts your journey with ADHD North East. We will arrange an appointment and start...

2. Clinical interview

We will meet to conduct a structured interview. We will cover your child's background, symptoms, and more. This helps us understand their needs and the context of their life in detail.

3. Questionnaires

As part of our interview, we will include assessment tools, including the Conner's 4 assessment to ask standardised questions about ADHD symptoms. These add to the overall information about your child, and develop the picture further.

4. School information

We will typically request some further information from your child's school, as long as that's alright with you. It's important to understand how they're getting on there as well as at home.

5. QB Check

The QB (Quantified Behaviour) check is a computer-based assessment used to diagnose ADHD by measuring attention, impulsivity, and activity levels. This adds some data to our assessment information.

6. Diagnosis and recommendations

Based on the assessment, we determine if ADHD criteria are met. If so, we make recommendations for treatment. All of this is explained in a feedback session and personalised report.

How much is it?

The cost for a complete ADHD assessment is £975, which includes:

  • Diagnostic interview
  • Standardised questionnaire administration and scoring
  • Full assessment report
  • Conners 4 assessments (parent and teacher versions as standard. Child version if age requirements met).
  • Follow-up meeting (online)
  • QB Check (often offered as an expensive add-on by others).
  • Letter to your gp
  • Referral to medication prescriber (if you'd like to consider this option)

How does this compare to others?

At ADHD North East, our £975 fee for an ADHD assessment provides excellent value when compared to other private providers in the UK. Many clinics charge anywhere from £1,200 to £2,000 for comprehensive ADHD assessments.

Our assessments are completely unbiased, meaning we are not motivated to lock you into costly follow-up care or ongoing treatment. Many other providers may recommend long-term medication plans or extended follow-up services, which can significantly increase the overall cost of managing ADHD. At ADHD North East, we focus on providing clear, professional, and objective assessments, leaving any decisions about next steps up to you.

Additionally, some providers charge separately for tests like the QbTest, which can cost up to £395 on top of the base fee . At ADHD North East, all components of the assessment, including the QbTest, are included in the price—so there are no hidden costs or surprise fees.
