Hello, I'm Alex. I'm a HCPC registered clinical psychologist. I lead the ADHD assessments and ADHD support at ADHD North East. I am supported by caring, skilled colleagues from different professions where appropriate.
My personal and professional experience of ADHD inspired me to setup ADHD North East. Our aim will always be to offer the highest quality assessments and support available.
I pride myself on being clear, compassionate, and unbiased. Whether you’re seeking clarity for yourself or for your child, my goal is to ensure you have the understanding needed to feel empowered to take the next steps with confidence.
Here are the answers to the most commonly asked questions I receive.
No, medication is not mandatory after an ADHD diagnosis. Each individual’s treatment plan is tailored to their needs and preferences. While some people find medication helpful, others prefer therapy, coaching, and lifestyle adjustments. We can discuss all options with you and connect you with our partners if you wish to explore medication.
The assessment process typically involves multiple steps, including initial consultations, detailed assessments, and feedback sessions. Depending on individual circumstances, the entire process can take a few weeks. We aim to make the process as smooth and efficient as possible while ensuring a comprehensive evaluation.
Yes, not everyone who undergoes an assessment will receive an ADHD diagnosis. Our assessments are thorough and unbiased, focusing on identifying the root causes of the difficulties you or your child are facing. If ADHD is not the primary issue, we will guide you towards other resources or recommendations that might be more appropriate.
ADHD North East doesn’t prescribe medication directly, but if that's what you'd like to consider then we can refer you to one of our trusted partners who can provide it. Once you’re settled on a treatment plan, there may be options for your GP to continue prescribing, depending on shared care arrangements. We do not profit in any way from this arrangement.
We offer fast, thorough, and unbiased assessments with over 10 years of specialist experience. Our service includes a comprehensive evaluation, a QB check, and personalised feedback—all at excellent value. With ADHD North East, you’ll get clarity, support, and a detailed report with recommendations you can trust.
